About

Rick Brown

Hi, I’m Rick Brown.

I have ADHD, I write software, and I made Check Yeah because I needed it.

The short version

I was diagnosed with ADHD as an adult, after a doctor who was also a friend talked me into getting tested. Before that I’d spent years thinking I was just bad at the simple stuff: remembering assignments, finishing projects, taking my meds, doing the same Friday timesheet every Friday. I tried calendars, alarms, to-do apps, habit apps, and I deleted every one of them, usually right after missing a day and not wanting to look at the red X.

I’m a developer, so eventually I built the thing I couldn’t find: a tracker that expects me to get distracted and doesn’t punish me for it. Rest days keep the streak. Nothing turns red. Reminders follow my routine instead of a clock. And when a thought hits me in the car, I can say it to my phone and it’s waiting for me on the right day. I used it for a while, it stuck, and I decided other people might want it too.

The longer version is on the blog.

Who’s behind it

Check Yeah is built and run by me, through my company, Leucocholy Media. There’s no team behind the curtain. When you email support, I’m the one who answers. When something breaks, I’m the one who fixes it, sometimes at 1 AM because that’s when the focus showed up.

I’m public about my ADHD, and I’m a real, findable person: here I am on LinkedIn.

What I promise

  • No guilt, ever. The app will never show you a red X, a failure, or an overdue count. That’s a design rule, not a setting.
  • No ads, no selling your data. Premium pays the bills. What you put in the app is yours. The privacy policy is short and in plain English.
  • Not a treatment. Check Yeah doesn’t diagnose, treat, or manage anything. It’s a checklist that’s kind to the brain using it.
